Aerial view of Whistler village and surrounding mountains

Whistler from a Perspective Few Ever See

Whistler is known worldwide for its skiing, its village, and its mountain scenery. But from the air, it becomes something entirely different. The Coast Mountains stretch in every direction, glaciers gleam under the sun, and alpine lakes appear like jewels set into the rock.

Our helicopter tours take you beyond the resort boundaries into true backcountry wilderness. You will fly over the Fitzsimmons Glacier, circle the peaks of Whistler and Blackcomb mountains, and see valleys that have never been logged or developed. On clear days, the views reach from the Pacific Ocean to the interior ranges.

Whether you are here to ski untouched powder, elope on a mountaintop, or simply experience one of the most scenic flights on Earth, Whistler Helicopter Tours makes it happen. Browse our prices and packages or read about each experience below.

What to Expect on Your Flight

Every helicopter experience with us follows a simple, stress-free process. Here is a typical journey from arrival to touchdown.

Check-In and Safety Briefing

Arrive at our Whistler helipad 15 minutes before your scheduled departure. Our ground crew will greet you, handle your luggage, and provide a safety briefing covering headset use, seatbelts, and emergency procedures. You will meet your pilot and have a chance to ask questions before boarding.

Take-Off and Scenic Flight

Once airborne, the pilot will narrate key landmarks over your headset. Expect to fly over alpine forests, glacial valleys, and snowcapped peaks. Flight routes vary by tour: a glacier tour follows the ice fields, while a transfer flight hugs the coastline.

Landing and Ground Time

Most tours include a glacier or alpine landing where you can step out, walk around, and take photographs. Depending on your package, this may include a gourmet picnic, a private proposal setup, or guided exploration time. Ground time typically lasts 20 to 60 minutes.

Return Flight and Photos

The return flight often takes a different route to show you new terrain. After landing, our team will help you with any follow-up: booking another experience, accessing photos, or arranging transport. Many guests tell us it is the highlight of their entire trip to Whistler.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best season to book a helicopter tour in Whistler?
We operate year-round. Summer (June to September) offers the longest days and clearest skies—ideal for glacier tours, picnics, and elopements. Winter (December to April) is perfect for heli-skiing and snow-covered landscape flights. Spring and autumn offer quieter conditions and unique colours.
How many passengers can fit in a helicopter?
Our helicopters carry up to six passengers depending on the model and total weight. For larger groups, we can arrange multiple aircraft flying together. Contact us for group bookings and we will find the best configuration for your party.
What happens if the weather is bad on my scheduled day?
Safety is our top priority. If weather conditions make flying unsafe, we will reschedule your flight at no extra charge or provide a full refund. Our team monitors conditions closely and will contact you as early as possible if a change is needed.
Do I need any special equipment or clothing?
Dress in warm layers even in summer—temperatures drop significantly at altitude. Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes. Sunglasses are recommended. For heli-skiing, full ski equipment is required (we can arrange rentals). For elopements and weddings, our team advises on appropriate mountain attire.
